In a poker room, you're playing against other players. In Ultimate Texas Hold'em, you're playing against the dealer — more like blackjack than a cash game. There's no bluffing, no reading opponents, and no position play. Your job is simple: make the mathematically correct bet on every street.

The three bets you need to know

Every hand starts with two mandatory bets:

• Ante — a small forced bet to stay in the hand.
• Blind — a second forced bet, usually equal to the ante.

Then, before any community cards are dealt, you make the most important decision of the hand:

• Bet 4x — bet four times your ante (strong hands).
• Bet 2x — bet two times your ante (decent hands).
• Check — wait to see the flop before deciding (marginal hands).

After the flop, if you checked preflop, you can bet 2x or check again. After the river, you either bet 1x or fold. The dealer needs a pair or better to qualify — if they don't, your ante pushes and your play bet is paid even money.
